ShutterSlug Bug is an independent game produced by Slug Bug Media LLC. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Volkswagen AG, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., or any of its subsidiaries. "Volkswagen," "Beetle," "Bug," and related marks are trademarks of Volkswagen AG, used herein nominatively for purposes of identification only.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use ShutterSlug Bug.

If you are between 13 and 17 years old you confirm that your parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.

We reserve the right to terminate accounts found to belong to users under 13 without notice.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or remain inactive for more than 24 consecutive months.

ShutterSlug Bug is a real-world photography game. You agree to use it honestly and fairly.

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account termination without refund.

ShutterSlug Bug is a competitive game. Rivalry, taunting, and territory warfare are core features of the experience.

All player-to-player communication within the app is limited to preset taunt messages selected from a fixed library. Players cannot send custom text, images, links, or any other free-form content to other players.

You agree to use the taunt system in the spirit of fun competition and not to use any feature of the app to target, intimidate, or harm specific individuals.

We reserve the right to remove or restrict any player whose conduct, even within permitted features, is reported as harmful or threatening by other players.

ShutterSlug Bug requires players to move through the real world to find and photograph Volkswagen Beetles. You are solely responsible for your physical safety while playing.

Slug Bug Media LLC is not responsible for any injury, accident, property damage, legal consequence, or harm of any kind that occurs while you are playing ShutterSlug Bug in the real world.

ShutterSlug Bug uses multiple systems to detect and prevent cheating including AI photo validation, EXIF metadata verification, GPS proximity checks, and timestamp cross-referencing.

Accounts found to be cheating will be permanently banned without warning or refund. This includes but is not limited to:

Banned accounts forfeit all points, team affiliations, territory holdings, purchased items, and paid subscriptions with no right to appeal or refund.

Capture the Flag territories are virtual game constructs that exist within ShutterSlug Bug. They confer no real world rights, ownership, or claims over any physical location, property, or vehicle.

The ability to photograph a specific Volkswagen Beetle as a flag does not grant any rights over that vehicle or its owner. You must always comply with applicable laws when photographing vehicles and must never interfere with a vehicle's owner or occupants.

Territory capture, flag theft, and CTF outcomes are game events only. Slug Bug Media LLC reserves the right to reset, adjust, or remove any territory at any time for game balance or policy reasons.

ShutterSlug Bug is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

We do not warrant that:

We reserve the right to modify, pause, or discontinue any feature of the app at any time with reasonable notice to users.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law Slug Bug Media LLC shall not be liable for:

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of ShutterSlug Bug shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 90 days preceding the claim.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Slug Bug Media LLC, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses including legal fees arising from:

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of ShutterSlug Bug that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to binding arbitration in Portland, Oregon under the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit against Slug Bug Media LLC.

For users in the European Union nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights under applicable EU law.

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes we will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect and update the Last Updated date above.

Continued use of the app after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

If you do not agree to updated terms you must stop using the app and may request account deletion at: support@shutterslugbug.com

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these terms.

You may delete your account at any time through profile settings or by contacting: support@shutterslugbug.com

Upon termination all your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Purchased items and paid subscriptions are forfeited upon termination for cause with no refund.
